1 Dead, Several Trapped After Tractor Trailer Overturns on Vehicle on Pennsylvania Turnpike
The accident occurred in the eastbound lanes of the Turnpike near Trevose Road. Officials say several people were trapped inside a vehicle underneath the tractor trailer. At least one of the passengers died from his or her injuries. Crews are trying to rescue the other passengers.

The big rig driver was also injured in the crash and taken to Frankford Torresdale Hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Officials also say the tractor-trailer was carrying 20,000 pounds of either liquid detergent or soap.

It was unclear if the car had been dragged by the truck after the vehicles made contact and careened into the embankment, Webb said.
Early indications show that the collision occurred in either the left or center lane of eastbound traffic, he said.
