The accident resulted in traffic being blocked in both directions between Gulph Mills and the Blue Route for almost five hours. 

New father among dead in ice storm crashes

That crash, between Gulph Mills Road and the Blue Route, involved 60 cars and trucks.  

1 Dead, 30 Hurt in Massive I-76 Pileup in Montgomery County

Blau's vehicle, a silver Mazda Protege, was one of the first vehicles involved in the crash and became disabled, investigators said.   

In a huge pileup on the Schuylkill Expressway on Sunday, Eric Alan Blau of Philadelphia was killed and about 30 people were injured. According to police, Blau was killed when got out of his disabled Mazda Protege and was struck by another car on I-76 near the Gulph Mills exit. About 60 cars were involved in the crash that has been attributed to extremely icy conditions.
