1 dead, 1 injured in Horsham crash

Authorities in Montgomery County are investigating an overnight crash in Horsham that has claimed the life of one person and injured another.The crash between a car and a tractor trailer occurred around 2:20 a.m. Sunday near the intersection of Easton Road and County Line Road.Police say a tractor trailer belonging to the Panera Bread restaurant chain was traveling south on Easton Road when the driver of a car entered the intersection traveling west on County Line Road and broadsided the tractor trailer.The vehicle then flipped around and struck the truck a second time trapping two people inside of the car.Medics pronounced one person dead inside of the car. The second was extricated by firefighters and transported to Abington Memorial Hospital in serious condition.There is no word on injuries to anyone in the tractor trailer.

Detweiler was riding in the passenger seat of a Hyundai turning left from Route 611 onto County Line Road at the time of the crash, Montgomery County First Assistant District Attorney Kevin Steele said in a news release.

Suburban Philadelphia man charged in deadly DUI crash

Prosecutors say Mitchell's headlights were off when he turned left at a red light and drove into the path of an oncoming tractor-trailer. They say his blood-alcohol level was almost twice the legal limit. Twenty-five-year-old Detweiler, who had been living in California, was killed. Mitchell is also charged with endangering another person and traffic violations. Steele says Mitchell will turn himself into authorities next week.

Prosecutors say Corey Mitchell was jailed on $100,000 bail following his Tuesday arraignment in Norristown. Prosecutors say Mitchell's headlights were off when he turned at a red light and collided with a tractor-trailer. It wasn't immediately known if Mitchell has a lawyer. An autopsy found that the 25-year-old Detweiler died from blunt force injuries.
