A school bus was struck by a pickup truck Friday morning and ended up on top of a car, killing a person inside the car, Allegheny County police said. The crash happened near the intersection of Route 8 (William Flynn Highway) and East Hardies Road at about 7:40 a.m. The medical examiner identified the victim as John Krauland Jr., 28, of West Deer Township. No students were on the bus, which is from Monark Student Transportation and was servicing the Pine-Richland School District. Police said the school bus was turning left from Route 8 onto East Hardies Road when it was struck by a black pickup truck, and the impact pushed the bus over while it was still moving, so it went on top of the car, which was stopped at the traffic light. The bus driver was put into the back seat of a police car, and the truck driver, wearing a neck brace, was put into an ambulance. Police said both drivers' blood would be tested. The crash remains under investigation.
