6-year-old girl struck, killed by drunk driver, police say

The incident happened Saturday night in Shaler, when police say 20-year-old Travis Richard Grayson came around a bend, lost control of his vehicle and struck the girl and her mother in a driveway. The girl died several hours later at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. Grayson is charged with homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence, driving under the influence and other counts. According to the criminal complaint, he told police he had had 10 beers and smoked marijuana before the crash and "was driving like a stupid idiot."

Mom Amber Campbell was sent airborne by the collision but declined medical attention as she tended to her daughter. Grayson is charged with homicide by vehicle and driving under the influence. Police say 20-year-old Travis Grayson drove twice the speed limit under the influence of drugs and alcohol before losing control of his vehicle. Court documents don'€™t list an attorney who could comment for him. There'€™s no phone listing for him at his Millvale home.

Millvale man accused of killing Shaler girl in crash out on house arrest

At a hearing Monday, Common Pleas Judge Jeffrey A. Manning agreed to release Mr. Grayson to electronic home monitoring. Mr. Grayson must live with his parents.
