Police confirmed Wednesday evening that the man killed earlier in a crash off Route 30 in Manchester Township was a 31-year-old Dover Township resident.
Brent Amspacher, of Oakland Road in Dover Township, was northbound on Toronita Street in a 2000 Mitsubishi Galant at approximately 3:26 p.m. when he made a left turn onto westbound Route 30/Arsenal Road, according to the Northern York County Regional Police Department. After making the turn, the Mitsubishi travelled another 100 yards before driving over a raised cement median.
The Mitsubishi then collided with the trailer portion of a 2002 Kenworth tractor-trailer that was stationary in the left turn lane of Route 30 east waiting to turn left onto Toronita Street, police said.
When officers and emergency personnel arrived, Amspacher was found to be trapped behind the wheel of the Mitsubishi. He was dead when police arrived, according to a news release.
The 45-year-old driver of the tractor-trailer, an Airville man, was not injured in the crash, according to police.
Police were still investigating the circumstances of the crash and anyone with additional information was asked to contact the Northern York County Regional Police Department at 717-292-3647, through 911, or the department's website.
