Police officer, son killed in Mercer County crash

A police officer and his son were killed in a two-vehicle crash in Mercer County Thursday. Officer Jeremiah L. Christner, 41, of Greenville, was a patrolman with the Greenville-West Salem Police Department in Mercer County, according to the department. We are saddened by the sudden and tragic loss of Officer Christner and his son,'€œ the department said. Officer Christner and his son were flown to UPMC Horizon-Greenville, where they were pronounced dead. Police said Officer Christner was traveling west on Greenville-Sheakleyville when he lost control of his vehicle on a curve.
