A woman, pronounced dead after being found on the side of a Berkeley County road, may have been the victim of a hit-and-run wreck, authorities said.

Cain was found injured lying on Trojan Road according to Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury. She was transported to a local hospital but succumbed to her injuries, he said. Her death is currently being investigated by Highway Patrol as a hit-and-run. The suspect vehicle may have damage to its passenger side, as well as headlight, fender and side mirror damage.
