South Carolina Highway Patrol reported a fatal accident on I-26 WB at mile marker 198, Sunday night at 9:50 P.M.
Victim in deadly Sunday night I-26 wreck identified
The driver of the semi-truck was taken to Summerville Medical with minor injuries, according to troopers.
A semi and a Toyota pickup were traveling west on I-26 Sunday night near mile marker 198 when the pickup ran into the back of the truck and then into a ditch. The Toyota driver has been confirmed as Christopher Hyers, 39, of Summerville. Hyers was transported to Trident Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 10:15 that night. The semi driver was taken to Summerville Medical Center. A passenger in the pickup truck, Hyers' wife, was taken to MUSC in unknown condition.
