At one point, the South Carolina Department of Transportation reported that all lanes in that area were closed had been reopened by 5:50 a.m. The identities of the victims has not been released.

Two people were killed in a head-on crash on I-26 near Ridgeville, Dorchester County, on Friday morning. The crash happened at about 2:40 a.m. on I-26 West when a Mitsubishi heading east in the westbound lane struck a Mazda traveling west in the westbound lane head-on. Both drivers were killed.
