Five-year-old dies following Lancaster Co. crash, driver charged with DUI

A five year old involved in a crash in Lancaster County last week has died, officials announced Monday. The driver was charged with DUI. The five-year-old and a 10-year-old were flown to the hospital after the crash on Flat Rock Road in Lancaster County Thursday. Police say the driver, 34-year-old Ronnie Eugene Patterson, was driving with the kids in the car when he crossed the center line, ran off the road, hit a utility pole, hit a tree and flipped. The five-year-old was rushed to the ER and then flown to Charlotte. The 10-year-old was flown out from the scene.
