Newberry Co. School District copes with tragic loss of superintendent
School district officials in Newberry County spoke Tuesday about the tragic death of Superintendent Benny Bennett, who was killed in a crash involving a Newberry County deputy on Saturday.
The 56-year-old educator died at the scene of the crash in front of Newberry High School. The deputy was responding to a crash on the interstate, and was airlifted to the hospital.

Corporal Tony Collins with the S.C. Highway Patrol said the deputy was responding to a call with lights and sirens activated on his patrol car.
