McCraw was also ticketed on the same road earlier in the day going 83 mph.
The father who was driving and crashed into a tree in Gaffney, killing his 2-year-old daughter, has been arrested. The crash occurred around 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday along White Plains Road when the car ran off the road and collided with a tree. The other three occupants in the car, including the girl's father, a 5-year-old and a 6-year-old child, were taken to the hospital. Their conditions are unknown at this time. The deceased child was riding in a booster car seat in the rear seat but it was not the proper type of seat for her age and size, according to the coroner. He said the other two children were in the correct types of seats and wants to remind parents to make sure children are properly restrained to ensure their safety in the event of a crash. Curtis McCraw, 26, who was driving, was arrested and charged with reckless homicide. The attorney said at the hearing that McCraw was driving at a high rate of speed when he ran off the road, and he had been smoking marijuana. Seventh Solicitor Barry Barnette said McCraw was driving at least 65 or 70 mph in a 45 mph zone when the crash happened. McCraw told a trooper that he was having a hard time getting his daughter to stay in her seat and he says that's why he wrecked. One of the children is still in the hospital receiving treatment.
