A motorcyclist died after a collision with a car on State 253 just outside the city of Greenville, according to the Highway Patrol.
A motorcyclist died after a collision with a car on State 253 just outside the city of Greenville, according to the Highway Patrol. The driver of the 2012 BMW motorcycle has been identified as Matthew Burnett, 29, of 291 Sammons Road, Taylors, according to Greenville County Coroner Parks Evans. He wasn’t wearing a helmet, the coroner said. An exam will be performed Monday to determine the cause of death, he said. The coroner listed the address of the accident as 1704 Poinsett Hwy., Greenville. The accident happened at 4:35 a.m. Thursday when a 2008 Ford four-door vehicle collided with the motorcycle, according to Lance Cpl. David Jones. Burnett was transported by EMS to Greenville Memorial Hospital and died shortly after 5 p.m. Thursday, he said. No charges have been filed and the accident remains under investigation, Jones said.
