Valerie Denise Howard Bayne, 41 of Greenville, was charged for the fatal hit and run, troopers said. She was leaving the scene of the accident after the death, reports state. Bayne was also driving under a suspended license, troopers say.

A pickup truck, an SUV and a third vehicle were involved in the crash on Nov. 27 on White Horse Road. Mario Penaloza Piza, of Asheville, was on foot and was struck by a vehicle that drove away.
