he driver of a 2006 Toyota pickup was killed this morning when the vehicle ran off Highway 276 and crashed into a column supporting the bridge where Interstate 185 runs over Highway 276, said Cpl. Bill Rhyne of the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Man killed on Highway 276 identified

A man who died in a crash Saturday on Highway 276 at the Interstate 185 off ramp has been identified as Michael Travis Spence, 43, of 764 Daventon Road, Fountain Inn, said Jeff Fowler, a deputy coroner for the Greenville County Coroner’s Office.

The driver of a 2006 Toyota pickup was killed this morning when the vehicle ran off Highway 276 and crashed into a column supporting the bridge where Interstate 185 runs over Highway 276, said Cpl. Bill Rhyne of the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

No other cars were involved in the wreck that happened about a half mile outside the Mauldin city limits at 11:10 a.m., Rhyne said.

The pickup driver, later identified as Michael Travis Spence, 43, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene, Rhyne said. An identity will be released once the coroner has notified the family, he said.
