59-year-old man critically injured, after his motorcycle leaves the Cross Anchor Highway roadway in Spartanburg County, and crashes into a ditch.

A man was severely injured following a motorcycle accident in Spartanburg County late Sunday afternoon.

A man was severely injured following a motorcycle accident in Spartanburg County late Sunday afternoon.

The accident happened at 3:35 pm on Cross Anchor Highway, near Watson Road. According to Billy Elder with the South Carolina Highway Patrol, a 59-year old man was riding his 2008 Kawasaki motorcycle east on Cross Anchor Highway when he lost control of the motorcycle, went off the right side of the road and was ejected from the motorcycle, which ended up in a ditch.

The man was airlifted to Spartanburg Regional Hospital with life threatening injuries. He was wearing a helmet.

The accident remains under investigation by the Highway Patrol.
