A person has been struck and killed by a car Saturday morning on Highway 52 near the Effingham Post Office in the Effingham community, according to Florence County Coroner Keith von Lutcken.

The 5:35 a.m. crash happened when Reynolds walked out into the south-bound lanes of the road and was struck first by a 2006 Ford SUV and then by a 2011 Hyundai, said Cpl. Sonny Collins, South Carolina Highway Patrol.
