Highway Patrol says about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, the church van was heading east on Highway 747, when the driver ran through a stop sign at Highway 9.
UPDATE: Nakina man charged in deadly church van crash in SC
According to Corporal Sonny Collins with the South Carolina Highway Patrol, Marion McLamb, the driver of the van, has been charged for failure to yield, pulling out in front of another vehicle.
A van from a church in Nakina, North Carolina, ran a stop sign and was hit by a pickup truck on Tuesday afternoon. One passenger in the van, 29-year-old Rebecca Lynn Drew of Whiteville, North Carolina, was killed in the crash while 7 others sustained injuries and have been hospitalized.
