Pedestrian killed in overnight crash
Troopers say it happened just before 4 a.m. on Saturday. It happened on U.S. 17 in Jasper County, about a mile from the Georgia-South Carolina line. Troopers say a 2003 Jeep Cherokee driven by 35-year-old Brian Edwards was traveling South on U.S. 17. It then struck a pedestrian who was in the roadway.

The victim, a black male, was struck while walking in the roadway about a mile from the Georgia state line, according to the S.C. Highway Patrol.
He is about 6 feet tall, with a slender build, and a medium-brown complexion, and was wearing a multicolored T-shirt, khaki-colored pants and a lanyard with a number of keys around his neck.
He appears to be about 30-35 years of age, but could be younger, Jasper County Coroner Martin Sauls said.
