Crews on scene of deadly I-40 crash - WBBJ TV

MADISON COUNTY, Tenn. — Emergency crews are on scene at a fatal wreck along the eastbound lane of Interstate 40 near mile marker 90 in east Madison County. Brad Wilbanks with the Tennessee Highway Patrol has confirmed there has been a fatality in the wreck. THP officials say eastbound traffic is being diverted at Exit 87 at Highway 70 as crews work to clear the roadway of debris. Fatal crash on I-40 east near mile marker 90

According to a report from Tennessee Highway Patrol, Sara Natalie Cooper, 27, of Frankin, was traveling westbound in a 2011 Chevrolet Equinox when her vehicle crossed the grass median and struck the tractor-trailer in the eastbound lanes. Cooper was killed in the accident. The driver of the tractor-trailer, Benjamin David Lewis, 37, of Chattanooga, was inured in the accident.
