Corvette hits school bus, driver seriously injured on Shea Road and Poplar Avenue in Collierville, Tennessee

A car rear-ended a bus at a Collierville intersection Wednesday. The bus was taking 32 students home from Bailey Station Elementary when the accident occurred shortly before 4:30 p.m. at Shea Road and Poplar Avenue. No students were injured; they were safely transferred to another bus to the school where parents picked them up. The bus driver was checked out by paramedics as a precaution. The driver of the Corvette was airlifted to The MED. Poplar Avenue was blocked for eastbound and westbound traffic from Bailey Station to Shea Road for several hours while Collierville Police completed the investigation. It has since reopened.
