It's unknown why Rhodes was driving in the wrong direction.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol has identified the two victims in a deadly wrong-way crash along I-24 eastbound in Coffee County on Saturday evening.
Investigators said Patrick Rhodes, 35, of Tullahoma, TN, was driving westbound along I-24 eastbound when he hit a pick-up truck head-on.
Rhodes was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the pick-up truck, James L. Golden, 63, of Hixson, TN, was injured. His wife, Phyllis F. Golden, 63, also died at the scene.
John Richard Rex, 60, of Orlando, FL, was uninjured in the crash. He was driving a 2006 Infinity and clipped Rhodes car during the crash and his car was struck by debris.
It's unknown why Rhodes was driving in the wrong direction.
The crash was reported just before 7 p.m. near mile marker 114 near Manchester. I-24 was closed for several hours while troopers investigated the incident.
