Owner of truck involved in fatal hit-and-run questioned by police

Fred Edwards, the owner of the pickup truck, was taken to the North Precinct and interviewed. The 76-year-old told police that he was not involved in the crash and someone must have taken his truck from his driveway and then returned it.

Metro police have identified the victim of Monday's fatal hit-and-run on Clarksville Pike as a 51-year-old Nashville woman.

Police say Mary Katherine Frazier, of Hydes Ferry Road, was crossing Clarksville Pike outside of a crosswalk when she was hit by a 2000 Chevrolet pickup truck. The woman died at the scene.

A man who works in the area said he was closing up for the night when he heard a loud crash near Clarksville Pike at Buena Vista Pike around 11 p.m. When he ran to see what happened, he says he saw a woman lying in the road and the vehicle had already left the scene.

Police say the truck's radiator ruptured in the collision, leaving a trail of fluids that led officers to the 2800 block of Hydes Ferry Road. The victim's shoe was also found underneath the truck.

Fred Edwards, the owner of the pickup truck, was taken to the North Precinct and interviewed.

The 76-year-old told police that he was not involved in the crash and someone must have taken his truck from his driveway and then returned it.

No charges have been filed against Edwards at this time, but the investigation is ongoing.

So it is that damn easy. You can just tell metro that some one all of a sudden stole your vehicle hit and killed a person and the returned the vehicle to your driveway

Trust in Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Hopefully the police finger printed the vehicle. The story is far fetched and maybe the owner is trying to protect someone who was possibly drunk, because I can't see how a person can just keep going. The hitter probably wouldn't get in trouble had they stop. This is so so sad and I hope that peace & closure come to her family & friends soon. Pray for truth and justice. God bless
