The wreck happened near the intersection of Harpeth-Peytonsville Road and Herbert Smithson Road just after 5:30 a.m.

Officials say the driver, 35-year-old Brian Johnson of Franklin, was driving a 1993 Honda Accord east on Harpeth-Peytonsville Road when he ran off the right side of the roadway and hit a culvert, sending the vehicle airborne.

The vehicle then struck a utility pole, rolled over on the driver's side and caught fire.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol report, Johnson was not wearing a seat belt and it would have made a difference in the crash.
