Police at the scene said a white pickup truck and red Nissan Altima were traveling southbound on Highway 31 when the Nissan rear-ended the truck.

The impact reportedly caused the Nissan to veer into the northbound lanes and crash head-on into a black Hyundai.

The crash happened on 31E just north of Phillips Hollow, right at the bottom of Westmoreland ridge, Weatherford said.

The driver of the Nissan, 39-year-old Holly Briley of Lafayette, was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman driving the black Hyundai, 80-year-old Lola Maxeywas transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center via LifeFlight where she died.
