The THP reports that, in doing so, Shanks failed to yield to a 2002 Toyota Sienna that was traveling south on 11-W. The Toyota then struck the passenger's side of Shank's vehicle.

All four people involved were taken to Holston Valley Medical Center. Shanks and Phillips were already treated and released, while Brown and Livesay remain in the hospital but are both listed as in good condition. Shanks has been charged with possession of drug paraphenalia, and additional charges are pending as the investigation continues.
