DPS: Teen killed in crash after semi runs red light

Authorities say the 37-year-old truck driver was distracted while looking down at his GPS when he ran through the light, which was flashing red.

Delia Ramirez, 15, died shortly after midnight at University Medical Center Brackenridge after the vehicle she was riding in was struck by an allegedly distracted truck driver in Austin. The semi, driven by a 37-year-old man, apparently ran through a flashing red light at about 8:30 p.m. Thursday on the northbound SH 130 service road near Parmer Lane. A 37-year-old woman in the car was also taken to University Medical Center Brackenridge with life threatening injuries, and a 22-month-old child was brought with serious injuries to Dell Children’s Medical Center.
