Simpson enjoyed riding his motorcycle in his free time, according to CCPD's website.

Police Chief Floyd Simpson was killed in a motorcycle accident on Highway 361 in Port Aransas which occurred just before 6 p.m. Police say a 16-year old driver traveling north on Highway 361 entered into the southbound lane.  A truck that was in front of Simpson's motorcycle swerved to avoid a collision. Simpson laid his motorcycle down and slid, but was struck. Simpson was transported to Bay Area Hospital, where he was later confirmed deceased. No citations have been issued at this point.
