2 dead in southeast Texas plane crash

Police say 2 people are dead in a small plane crash just north of Corpus Christi. KIII-TV reports that a man and a man were on board, but no more details were immediately available on their identity or where they were headed. The plane crashed at the North Shore Country Club in Portland, about 150 miles southeast of San Antonio. The National Transportation Safety Board on Twitter identified the plane as an Aeronca Champion 7BCM. 

Families hold prayer service for plane crash victims

Ross Mitchell, 28, and Catherine George, 27, took off in a small plane from Hunt Airport in Portland, TX on the 4th of July. The  joy ride in the vintage L-16 Champion ended in a deadly crash on the North Shore Country Club golf course.

  They weren't headed anywhere.  They were kids having fun buzzing the beach at way too low an altitude in gusty winds.   ***  there are old pilots and bold pilots, but no old, bold pilots ***
