7 students injured after driver falls asleep, rear-ends school bus

Thursday on I-20 near 281 South when a Crandall School District bus was rear-ended by a pickup truck. The driver of the truck, 70-year-old Charles R. Gill of Denton, rear-ended the bus after failing to control his speed, DPS said. There were 27 students, ages 17 and 18, and four adults on the bus, which was traveling to Tarleton State University.

Driver Says He Fell Asleep Before Hitting SchoolBus

PALO PINTO COUNTY (CBSDFW.COM) –  A 70-year-old man driving a pickup told DPS troopers he fell asleep while driving before hitting a school bus. Gill was cited for fail to control speed. The bus was traveling to tour the Tarleton State University campus. Thursday at the intersection of the north frontage road of Interstate 20 and US Highway 281 Seven students on the Crandall ISD bus were taking to area hospitals with minor injuries. The pickup, driven by Charles R. Gill, 70, of Denton, failed to control its speed and struck the rear of the bus, according to DPS. There were 27 students on the bus, ages 17 and 18, and four adults, including the driver.
