Two people killed Thursday night in crash on ramp LBJ Freeway to eastbound I-20

Two people were killed in a car crash on Interstate 20 in Balch Springs Thursday night.

The accident occurred at about 7:40 p.m. on the southbound exit ramp from LBJ Freeway onto eastbound I-20. A Toyota Corolla and a Honda CRV had crashed into each other, police said.

The Honda veered off I-20 into the grassy median before pulling back onto the road where it was struck by the Corolla, which was driving from the LBJ exit ramp onto I-20. The Honda then smashed into a guardrail, according to an accident report.

The driver, Joshua resident Ronda Whitwell, 74, was transported to a local hospital by helicopter, where she later died. Glen Richard Whitwell, 79, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Toyota was uninjured.
