Malone was a Boy Scout who was heading home from a scout meeting, Carroll school district spokeswoman Julie Thannum said Wednesday.

It was approximately 8:00 p.m. when 16-year-old James "Cole" Malone was riding his bike on Byron Nelson Parkway, and was struck by a northbound sports car. Though the driver stopped and made sure Malone got help, he was eventually pronounced dead after being transported to the hospital. The cause of this accident remains under investigation; we will add more details as information becomes available.
