Man dies after boating collision on Lake Conroe
The incident happened early Saturday morning during a bass fishing tournament.
Investigators said two men, each driving a boat, were taking part in the tournament at the time.
They were both going around 45 mph when there was some miscommunication and they slammed into each other.
"The boats tried to yield in the proper way and they didn't think the other one was going to yield," said Montgomery County Precinct 1 Deputy Constable Rusty Fincher. "They swerved back and forth and collided."
Authorities said both drivers thought the other would change direction. As a result, one boater collided with the other vessel, nearly cutting it in half.
