Police have released more details about a traffic crash early Thursday morning in north Houston that left a pedestrian dead. The incident occurred about 7 a.m. in the 1400 block of West Gulf Bank near Veterans Memorial, said a spokeswoman for the Houston Police Department. Police said that the driver of a yellow Ford van was traveling westbound on W. Gulf Bank and hit a man who was trying to cross the road but was not in a crosswalk. The driver stopped. The pedestrian, whose name has not been released, died at the scene. Police questioned the driver, who was then released. So far, no charges have been filed in the death.
