28-year-old woman killed and 2 injured after 2 vehicles attempt to cross railroad tracks ahead of approaching train in Houston, Texas

Woman killed after car collides with train

Police the drivers of a yellow Dodge Charger and silver Toyota Camry were driving southbound on Fondren when they came to a railroad crossing with arms down and red lights flashing. Authorities say the drivers of both vehicles attempted to drive around the crossing arms. When the Charger crossed the railroad tracks it was struck on the passenger side by a KCS train, according to HPD. Officials say that’s when the Charger went airborne and struck the Camry.
The accident occurred around 6:40 p.m. on the 12000 block of Fondren Road. The driver and passenger of the Charger were taken to Ben Taub General Hospital where the 28-year-old woman passenger was pronounced dead. According to police, the drivers of both vehicles were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
