HPD: Three people at METRO bus stop hit by oncoming vehicle in SW Houston

Three people waiting at a METRO bus stop in southwest Houston were struck by a vehicle, according to police.It happened in the 5600 block of Chimney Rock at Glenmont near the Fountain Oaks apartment complex.According to authorities, two drivers hit each other; one of the drivers lost control and hit the three people at the bus stop. All three were taken the hospital, one in critical condition.The driver who hit the victims drove away. Officers found the car at Chimney Rock and Westheimer. A K-9 unit is being dispatched to the scene to help track down the fleeing driver.An investigation is underway.

HOUSTON-- Houston police have charged a suspect in a hit-and-run crash that injured multiple people in southwest Houston. Vasquez, 38, was charged with three counts of failure to stop and render aid. According to the Houston Police Department, Obdulio Vasquez was driving northbound on Chimney Rock in a silver Chevrolet Impala and was racing a white Ford F-150 around 8:20 p.m. Vasquez fled the scene and abandoned his Impala in a nearby apartment complex.

Bus stop crash suspect now facing manslaughter charge

HOUSTON '€“ A man accused of hitting three people in a hit-and-run at a southwest Houston bus stop is now facing upgraded charges after one of the victims died. Vasquez is accused of crashing his Chevrolet Impala into a Metro bus stop along Chimney Rock late Saturday. Three people were left seriously wounded at the bus stop. After the upgraded manslaughter charge, Vasquez no longer has a bond. He now faces charges of intoxication manslaughter, intoxicated assault and failure to stop and render aid.

All three people hit by a car at a southwest Houston bus stop Saturday night are related, according to family.Kamal Subedi said his mother, 56-year-old Indra Subedi, died after undergoing surgery Monday. They said he was racing a truck, weaving in and out of traffic when he lost control of the wheel and slammed into the family at the bus stop. She came here one month ago to visit me, but I lost my mom."Subedi said his mother moved to Houston from Belize one month ago. His father and uncle are still in the hospital."I'm so sad," Kamal Subedi said through tears, "I was at work when she was in the accident."
