Woman killed when driver crashes into tree in SE Houston

An investigation is underway after a woman crashed her car into a tree, killing another woman in her car, police said. Roberts said the vehicle, with one driver and three passengers, was heading westbound when the driver left the roadway and crashed. According to statements at the scene, it's believed the vehicle's brakes failed shortly before the crash. Two other passengers were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
