Two people dead in north Houston accident involving big rig

Police are investigating a deadly accident involving a big rig in north Houston.The accident was reported around 8:15pm on the northbound lanes of Interstate 45 at Crosstimbers.Details about the wreck weren't immediately available.Police say two passengers inside the vehicle were killed, and a third person was taken to Ben Taub General Hospital. We don't know that person's condition.

DOUBLE FATAL CRASH AFTER DRIVER SLAMS INTO BACK OF DISABLED CAR CARRIER

The utility truck slammed into the rear of the 18-wheeler killing the driver of the utility truck instantly. A small fire broke out under the hood which was quickly extinguished by the 18-wheeler driver. According to HPD Investigators, the impact pushed the parked 18-wheeler 15 feet forward. The two passengers of the utility truck were transported to Ben Taub Hospital in critical condition. A short time before the driver of an 18-wheeler auto transport broke down and was parked on the shoulder with flashers and safety triangles set up.
