1 dead after hit-and-run near The Woodlands

According to an incident report, DPS troopers are still searching for the driver of the vehicle that caused the accident and  fled the scene.

One woman was killed and two men injured after a vehicle made an unsafe lane change, colliding with a Lincoln LS that then lost control early Saturday morning on Interstate 45 near The Woodlands. The Lincoln then collided with a barrier before coming to a rest westbound across the middle two lanes of traffic and then was struck by two other vehicles. Habib Almishkhas, 51, was the driver of the Lincoln. His passenger, Sawsan Almilad, 46, was pronounced deceased at the crash site. The driver of the Buick was treated and released.

What every family needs to know about Texas wrongful death claims

When someone is killed in a car, truck, bicycle, pedestrian, or other kind of accident, family members left behind must cope with the tragedy as best they can. Many important decisions need to be made, and a wrongful death claim needs to be filed.

In Texas, a claim can be filed only by specific family members, but there are strict requirements and deadlines that must be met. It is critical to talk with a Texas wrongful death attorney to get the information and advice needed to move forward.
