One Dead, Others Seriously Hurt in Crash at 19th and Q

Police said the chase started because undercover officers were trying to arrest Lavato as a narcotics suspect.

During the chase, LPD said Lavato threw out something from the vehicle which later tested positive for cocaine.  Police said he also had a gun in the vehicle.

On Friday morning, Eric Finley with University Medical Center said Lovato was hospitalized and under arrest. Records show Lovato was later discharged from the hospital, transported and booked into the Lubbock County Detention Center on a parole violation.

Lubbock police officers retrieved more than 100 grams of methamphetamine from a vehicle involved in a March 17 deadly multi-vehicle crash at the intersection of 19th Street and Avenue Q, according to an arrest warrant released Wednesday.
