A FedEx driver, identified as Brandon Joseph Biagas, 39, was killed in a fiery crash on N.W. Loop 410 early Wednesday morning, according to the San Antonio Fire Department.

Witnesses told investigators that the driver was swerving on the road when the truck hit a beam under I-10 west and caught fire around 3:45 a.m.

According to SAFD, the truck was fully engulfed in flames and the driver was dead by the time crews arrived on scene.

Firefighters said the smoke was so black and heavy that visibility on the I-10 overpass was very limited.

Investigators were working to figure out what caused the flames to ignite.

Officers with the San Antonio Police Department said it would take at least two hours for crews to clear the wreckage and reopen the highway. Police were asking motorists to find another route or expect long delays.
