Police believe that a 37-year-old man was drunk and may have been using inhalants while driving during a serious four-vehicle crash on 4425 South and 700 East Thursday evening. The man was northbound on 700 East when he first rear-ended another northbound vehicle. His car then crossed into the oncoming lane and collided with a southbound vehicle, nearly head-on, before rotating and striking one more vehicle. Two children, a 9-year-old girl and10-year-old boy, were both hospitalized with serious injuries and were in the first car to be struck. A woman riding in the second vehicle that was struck was extricated from the car and hospitalized with serious injuries, as well as the 37-year-old man who caused the accident.
