80-year-old school crossing guard injured, taken to hospital, after he is struck, on North 800 East in Orem, by a minivan driven by a 48-year-old man, who was cited.

A 80-year-old crossing guard was hit while helping children cross a road in Orem on Wednesday.

The accident happened around 7:30am when a 48-year-old man driving a minivan hit the guard at 1035 North 800 East in Orem.

The guard was wearing his reflective vest and had his stop sign raised. He sustained neck injures but is expected to be okay.

The minivan had damage to the windshield and the driver was cited for failing to yield and not having insurance.
