Provo police said that a 23-year-old man was struck by a car just before 8 p.m. Thursday when he stepped into the intersection of 200 West and Bulldog Boulevard.

The victim had been standing on the northwest corner of the intersection and then entered a crosswalk southbound when the light turned green.

The vehicle that hit him had just made a right-hand turn and the driver did not see the man walking until it was too late.

He was treated at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center and released.

"Although his injuries were minor, this is a good reminder to all of us that it’s not always safe to go when the light is green. We cannot assume that all drivers look out for pedestrians or follow traffic lights or stop signs. We need to look both ways before we move forward," police said.
