Man in critical condition after being found inside SLC garbage truck
A man who was sleeping inside a dumpster was in critical condition after he was dumped into the back of a garbage truck on Thursday.
Salt Lake City fire officials said that the man was found in the garbage truck by the driver on Thursday morning near 721 S. 300 West.
Fire Capt. Mark Bednarik said the garbage truck is a larger model used to collect trash at industrial businesses, and lifts a dumpster over the top of the cab before dumping it into the bed of the truck. The truck driver had been on the roof of the cab clearing debris on Thursday morning when he heard the man calling for help. The driver then called 911 and waited for fire crews to arrive.
