A school bus crash in the northern Vermont town of Berkshire has sent about five elementary school children to the hospital.

At least seven children were taken to the hospital after a bus accident in Berkshire Friday, but police say none of the injuries appeared to be life-threatening.
At least seven children were taken to the hospital after a bus accident in Berkshire Friday, but police say none of the injuries appeared to be life-threatening. Vermont State Police say they were called to the accident on Potato Hill Rd. just before 4 p.m., where they found the bus partially on its side. The driver, Shawn Parsell, told police her front tire hit the shoulder and she lost control. The bus flipped on its side and landed in the snow bank. When the bus tipped over, many children were knocked out of their seats. Police say at least seven children were taken to the hospital with injuries, but none appeared to be life-threatening. The bus was dropping off kids from Berkshire Elementary School. The driver estimated the bus's speed at about 25-30 mph at the time of the accident. Police say alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the crash. The crash is still under investigation.
