One Dead After Crash in Greene County

 Virginia State Police are investigating a fatal crash in Greene County.

The Greene County Sheriff's Office also assisted at the crash scene.
Back seat passenger Dana Shifflett, 22, is dead and four others are seriously injured after an accident on Amicus Road in Greene County, Virginia.  The vehicle carying Shifflett was traveling westbound, went off the right side of the road, overcorrected, hit an embankment in the eastbound lane and was then hit by an oncoming SUV. Shifflett was thrown from the car, and died at the scene even though she was wearing a seat belt at the time. The driver and the front seat passenger of Shifflett's vehicle were ejected and airlifted to UVA Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. Neither were wearing their seatbelts. The driver of the other car, Samuel C. Bishop, 38,was also seriously injured and taken to the hospital via ambulance. The investigation is ongoing and charges may be filed.
