Southampton County, Va. – A crash involving two vehicles has resulted in the death of an 81-year-old woman. Southampton County Sheriff’s Office responded to a crash on Main Street Courtland near an intersection with Rochelle Street around 5:12 p.m. Officials say Ricks was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision. Deputies say the two vehicles collided head-on after the car Ricks was driving crossed the center line of the road. The driver of the second vehicle and a juvenile passenger were taken to Southampton Memorial Hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.
