Officer, firefighter injured in Hampton crash

The Hampton Police Division confirms a four-vehicle crash Wednesday evening, involving a police officer and firefighter.

 Police have charged an 82-year-old woman with reckless driving after she is accused of causing a crash that injured a Hampton Police officer and firefighter.

Firefighter, officer and two others hurt in multi-vehicle crash in Hampton

Four people, including a firefighter and a police officer, were hurt after a crash in Hampton on Wednesday night.

An initial two-vehicle crash occured at the intersection of Hampton Roads Center Parkway and Magruder Boulevard. An officer responded to that crash, and a nearby Fire Utility Vehicle stopped to help. A Honda crashed into the fire vehicle, then a Jeep struck the police vehicle. The police officer, firefighter, and two civilians were transported to local hospitals for non life-threatening injuries.  Regina Shortt, 82 years old and the driver of the Honda, has been charged with reckless driving.

This is the same intersection where a Hampton man was killed in a vehicle crash on August 16.
